These photos were taken before we purchased the property.
A little background. We have an old detached garage that we were planning on sheet rocking and making a wide open space for the studio. It’s really cool and made with terracotta.
It already has electric. We figured…slap a new front on it, a few windows and boom! The studio! Unfortunately after meeting with contractors, they said we would be better off just tearing the structure down and building new as the terracotta tiles are hollow, wouldn’t be able to withstand additional pressure and we would be unable to put windows in without some steel reinforcing the structure (something about it not being able to handle the load if we cut into it). It ended up being super expensive and much more than we wanted to spend.
We refuse to tear down the structure, it’s antique, circa 1856.
If you look closely in the 2nd photo, you can see the structure to the left of the garage which is to be the studio.
