Some clients send the greatest things!

HUGE thanks to Emma & Hugh Hughes (see the Fine Art Session of Hugh’s Big Dog Ridgback) who sent me this awesome bag of coffee a week and a half ago…

Wouldn’t you know that my bean grinder took a turn for the worse a while ago – I have had a bag of coffee beans from North Carolina on my shelf from my Mother in Law for a few months now, once I received this bag, I had a reason to go buy myself a new bean grinder – after all, two bags of coffee beans that needed a grindin’ certainly justified the purchase. I love it. It’s new and shiny.

I know that Hugh and Emma have been waiting for a consensus on the coffee. My pot is filled with this coffee today and I think it’s delicious. Not as strong as it claims (there is no real “DANGER”) but that could be that I went a bit easy on the grind AND I also didn’t use *too* much because based on the packaging I thought with one cup I may be awake for a week – for the most part, however, the packaging claims are mostly true – it is indeed “Soft and Silky”.

Better than Starbucks? Well, that’s hard to say being that I have been addicted to Starbucks for a while now. However, to be completely fair, I’m willing to go to the end of the bag without having ONE CUP of Starbucks Coffee and I’ll give a final analysis when the bag is done. Now, I know many of you don’t know me personally, but for me, this is a huge sacrifice.

Disclaimer: That is, of course, unless one day I feel like a Grande Skim Sugar Free Gingerbread Latte – Clearly this bag of coffee can’t handle that craving and I reserve the right to indulge during the holiday season. 😉

I performed a search on Lost Dog Coffee and found only a listing (wish I found a website) – as I had heard that the coffee house was decorated from top to bottom with anti-Starbucks bumper stickers but couldn’t find anything but this article and this photo.

Thanks guys, it was a very thoughtful gift – I’m always up for a coffee challenge!

Stop being a wimp and grind some more. I’m not anti Starbucks at all but variety is the spice of life, and being the exceptional artist that you are we thought you might enjoy the tickling of your palate and the artistic packaging of the coffee. Enjoy!

  • Now, that’s like the Hughes I know!

An update to this is that this coffee is awesome – quite frankly, doesn’t give me the jitters as much as Starbucks does and it’s less bitter. I am really enjoying it.

    Thanks again!ReplyCancel
