The foyer and the outside seem to get the most attention during the holiday season. I haven’t downloaded the exterior shots yet but I do have the interior shots completed.
Here is a transformation for you. The foyer fireplace before we purchased the home:
Fireplace last year (still with screen) – you’ll notice the walls are a different color also 😉
And now… (no screen – the opening is much larger, replaced the ceramic tile with granite)
The village found a home on top of our piano this year! We always had issues trying to figure out where to place it.
I love the way the goldleaf looks with the firplace roaring!
I got a lot of slack for the shape of the tree this year, so I’ll just post a quick shot and say that I feel we totally could’ve done better with our tree. Truth be told it was the first year putting a tree in this particular spot and I think that threw off our decorating equilibrium…we didn’t even get a star for it (our fiber-optic Santa didn’t work this year, ha ha ha). We spent minimal time decorating the tree and I don’t think we even had enough on it!
This photo is from the living room last year – now our TV resides here, but I figured since I had it handy I’d post it.
Thats a great room! And so huge for a foyer!
Do you find you end up leaving a lot of junk on that table or does it stay mostly neat? Im thinking of adding a little table to the living room (near where I’d walk in) but I don’t know if I want to give myself another mess to clean up.
You know, I’d have to say that for the most part it’s clean – not one of our junk collecting tables. We walk in the back entrance – so the mudroom and the kitchen table get the clutter – which is why I’m happy when people come to the front door 😉
Ok, so that wouldn’t apply for me. Only one way to walk in for me.
Im jealous of the whole mud room thing. That seems like such a luxury 🙂
Yes, it is! I LOVE my Mudroom. 😉
