It has been a while since I’ve mentioned anything about our noisy guests (I suppose a better word would be “inhabitants”). Should you want some background, please read the original ghost post.
Anyway, just a few interesting things happening around here. One evening in December, we had our good friends over for dinner. Sometimes we like to change it up in our home (and sometimes the dining room is in such disarray) – we decided to set up two bistro tables from the porch in the foyer and dine in there, considering it was decorated so nicely for the holidays, in front of the fireplace.
As we were describing our original ghost story, one of my oldest, dearest, and best friends, Lisa, heard her cell phone buzzing in the kitchen, indicating “missed call”. Laughing nervously, she comes into the foyer with her cell phone.
Scrolls to “Missed Calls” and shows it to us. The caller ID indicates:
“LAURA HOME”
Yes…my house called her. Of course feverishly we scrolled through her calls to see the last “Laura Home” call as I had called her at 7:30 PM – and that call was accounted for. Her mom called her at about 9:30 and our farm called her at 11:30 PM – right as we were sitting there.
I ran up the stairs to hit “redial” on the telephone up in the master bedroom, not her cell phone (thank god, because that would’ve meant the ghosts were in my bedroom!) I hit redial on all of phones and NONE were her cell phone (she was not the last call I had made from that phone that evening).
Any explanations out there?
*crickets*
So, things around here have been quiet…mostly. Wouldn’t it really be cliche for the ghosts only to show up around Halloween, as the original blog post was almost dated? Yes, it would.
During the day I’ve been hearing various noises, the sound of furniture being moved above my head (which I have learned to dismiss as “house noises”) – two days in a row I heard really loud bangs as if a shelf fell with tons of books on it. But nothing has been moved, nothing has fallen!
That’s it. No sightings and most importantly, my daughter has not heard anyone calling her name since we politely asked our roommates to leave her alone. Actually we asked them to leave us all alone, but I can deal with a house noise every now and then – voices – I cannot!
I don’t believe in ghosts.
